Our story

HIMA origins lie in the European Federation of DIY Manufacturers (fediyma), which was created in March 2000 by its founding members BHETA (United Kingdom), Herstellerverband Haus & Garten (Germany) and Inoha (France). Hima Benelux (formerly Febin) (Belgium), MADE4DIY (Italy), AFEB (Spain) and IVG (Germany) have also joined the federation in recent years. All together they represent 78% of the European home improvement market with over 850 member companies.

HIMA will focus on engaging with members, offering activities and initiatives that are strategic in nature and focused on future challenges across the world. We continue to expand and tailor our member services, offer a wide range of Home Improvement, DIY, Building Materials and Garden market data, increase the quality of our networking events as we have done with the Global DIY Summit, represent the interests of our industry on an international level, amongst other projects that will increase our visibility in the industry. As a result of these initiatives, we expect a considerable international expansion of our association in the coming years.
